Accelerated graduate degree programs

Plan for your future

Missouri S&T offers accelerated graduate degree programs customized for current Missouri S&T undergraduate students. You can earn your master of business administration (MBA) or master of science in information science and technology (MS IST) in as little as one year after completing your undergraduate degree.

The department of business and information technology offers two accelerated degree options: the graduate track pathway program and the 4+1 program. Each program has different requirements and benefits, but both allow you to take some graduate coursework during your last year of undergraduate studies. This saves you money because you pay undergraduate tuition while completing graduate coursework under these programs. You can also finish your degree faster when compared to the traditional course schedule.

If you would like to start your professional career immediately after earning your bachelor's degree, you can still take advantage of this option. Our graduate degrees are flexible and you can take your classes online from anywhere in the country using our state-of-the-art virtual classrooms. In fact, our distance learning programs are considered among the best in the country, according to U.S. News and World Report.

Graduate Track Pathway Program

The graduate track pathway (GTP) program allows you the opportunity to apply up to nine credit hours of graduate-level courses (5000-level or above) toward both your bachelor's degree and your master's degree. This effectively reduces the number of courses required to complete your master's degree. You may also take additional courses for graduate credit under the 4+1 program if your situation allows, but no more than three courses may be applied toward both degrees.

As a student in the GTP program, you must formally begin your master's degree program immediately after completing your bachelor's degree, with no break in enrollment. You must also maintain at least 3.0 GPA and earn a grade of "B" or better in the courses to be counted toward both degrees.

Contact your academic advisor for more information about this program.

4+1 Program

The 4+1 program allows you to "dual enroll" as a graduate student for up to two semesters, based on your GPA. A GPA ≥ 3.0 qualifies for one semester of dual enrollment; a GPA ≥ 3.5 qualifies for two semesters.

Each semester, you must declare which courses are to be taken for graduate credit. As a dually enrolled student, you must take at least three credit hours of undergraduate credit from Missouri S&T each semester. Courses declared as graduate credit under this program cannot be used to fulfill requirements for your undergraduate degree.
